Tim Whitehill

PROGRAMME LEAD

Tim is an experienced Strategy expert and is highly effective in using its well professed models and approaches to inspire leaders to overcome the critical issues facing today’s construction sector.

Tim has been working in the construction sector for over twenty years. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1996 then later gained a MBA in 2006, concentrating his research on The Critical Success Factors for Partnering in Construction. The early part of his career was spent in design and build contracting where he rose to the position of Managing Director of Qufab Construction Ltd in 2002. He later co-founded FCE Projects Ltd in 2004, a successful civil engineering business specialising in the power industry, which today he maintains the role of Director responsible for strategy and corporate governance.

Inspired by the industry’s ‘improvement agenda’ following the release of Sir John Egan’s 1998 report Rethinking Construction, Tim chose to diversify with his knowledge in 2006 to become a strategy expert for the construction sector. Having worked with organisations including the Constructing Excellence national and regional networks, BRE and the National Federation of Builders, Tim has supported more than 500 construction based businesses and organisations working to achieve the industry challenge to improve performance and deliver a better built environment.

Dr Michelle Brennan

EXPERT

Michelle is an experienced CSR and Social Value expert, highly effective in assisting companies manage their strategic approach to social impact/corporate responsibility in a way that supports both the business and the local community.

Michelle has had a diverse career, spending her earlier years within the legal sector before heading off to university in 2008 to study applied psychology. Having graduated with a first class honours in 2011, she progressed onto a PhD which focused on increasing sustainability across the construction industry.  Utilising psychological theories and models, her research focused on Emotional Intelligence and Leadership for transforming the sector. Through her academic studies, Michelle has gained a wealth of experience as a researcher and has applied these skills within her role as a consultant, assisting construction companies to improve their business through strategic evaluation.

Enthused by her PhD studies, Michelle decided to pursue a career within the construction sector and has built up a successful career over the last 4 years. Michelle is passionate about helping businesses understand the value of effective corporate responsibility and helping staff and projects to engage with their local communities. She has delivered workshops and a number of industry talks on the subject in an effort to engage the sector in being more socially responsible. Since the introduction of the Social Value (Public Services) Act, she has been working with organisations to help them recognise the power the industry has to tackle some of the more complex challenges facing our generation and how to embed this within their business strategy.

Andy Spooner

EXPERT

Andy is a Lean expert with extensive experience of delivering recognised Lean Thinking principles across various sectors including Construction, Aerospace and Automotive.

Andy’s Lean expertise stems from the early days of his career in the 1990s working in Aerospace and Automotive manufacturing sectors. During this time he was able to hone his Lean knowledge and skills working within large blue chip companies and their integrated supply chains, taking him across the globe to countries including Japan, Sweden and Germany.

In 2006 Andy entered the construction sector as a Lean Master Engineer on BRE’s Construction Lean Improvement Programme (CLIP), which was commissioned by the former Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) to develop Lean tools and techniques to improve the delivery of UK construction projects. Since then Andy  has actively engaged with over 500 construction based organisations, working on large scale infrastructure and building projects, to deliver significant improvements in project cost, timescale and quality.

Andy also supports the industry in its continuous adoption of Lean through his role as the current Chair of Lean Construction Institute’s (LCI) North West Chapter. He is also an active member of the Constructing Excellence’s best practice club in Liverpool.

Dr Andy Ainsworth

EXPERT

Andy is an experienced consultant with an extensive track record of working with businesses to improve the way they operate. He is a detail oriented practitioner who’s focus is taking on practical challenges and developing workable solutions.

Andy has 20 years of experience of working directly with businesses across a number of sectors. With a PhD focused on environmental improvement in waste water infrastructure he brings a rigorous academic approach to all his work. He has a background in multi-disciplinary consulting, and while at Halcrow he worked on projects for clients including The Highways Agency, Transport Scotland, Thames Water and Welsh Government. He has also managed and delivered large-scale business support programmes across sectors including construction, food and drink and waste infrastructure.

More recently at Project Five, Andy has led the delivery of several projects focusing on the implementation of BIM across the construction supply chain. He has worked alongside public sector clients, national main contractors, specialist contractors, designers and product manufacturers to develop processes for the implementation of BIM. As a result he understands the challenges facing organisations starting to use BIM and how they can overcome these and realise the opportunities BIM can bring.

Programme Fee: £5750.00 plus VAT

An initial non-refundable deposit of £1437.50 plus VAT is payable within 30 days of enrolment to secure your place on to the programme. The final sum of £4,312.50 plus VAT is due for settlement 30 days prior to the start date of the programme. During our payment process you will be asked to confirm that you have agreed to our terms and conditions.
