Community Benefits and CSR in Construction (Edinburgh)

CSR is becoming a core requirement for many clients and stakeholders of the construction industry, both public and private sector. Along with this there is an increasing legislative framework shaping its development. For example, since the introduction of the Public Service (Social Value) Act (2012), public sector bodies are now required by law to consider the return on investment and community benefits from their procurement of public services. This is now influencing the procurement of public works and is a key differentiator in the selection process.

What are the learning outcomes?

This one day workshop promises to be relevant and informative and is designed to accommodate all levels of profession within the industry. The workshop has been designed to deliver the following learning outcomes:

  • An understanding of the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
  • An overview of the Legal Acts affecting CSR
  • An understanding of how to implement CSR in construction
  • An understanding of how to measure the impact of CSR in construction
  • How to report on CSR in construction
  • How to use CSR for competitive advantage
